We raced the Griff from 2007-2009. In our first partial season in a group of 10 cars we managed to finish runner up in GpB (sub 350bhp/tonne) whilst still essentially a road/track car. Beaten by a handful of points by Tony Abrams in his full fat RV8 tuscan, we were delighted and amazed frankly. We had a couple of race wins and even led the race outright on our first outing at Pembrey…I had the bug well and truly.

In 2008 we again only completed selected races. Still track-daying in Europe we had to miss a few, but again there was a couple of class wins finishing 4th in class. We were developing the aero now and the speed was coming.
2009 gave us our first Championship. Following Tom Stewart’s early departure from the Series due to illness, the Class and Championship was there to be taken. With no other serious competition, we won comfortably. 8 wins & 17 podiums from 25 starts. A great career from a car bought to tour Europe with the odd trackday.
2010 and the car was sold. The “Monster Griff” has now been bought by friend - and ex grease monkey - Dan Birch. Dan crewed on the car regularly and over time, caught the bug badly. He raced it at the final two races at Oulton Park and with just about ZERO seat time mixed it with the best of Group B narrowly missing his first podium. He first win and Championship surely can’t be far away and the car is receiving a body off refurbishment over the winter 2010-2011 to make it his own in 2011.

For me, I have moved onto a Tuscan Challenge Car. An itch that grew over the last 5 years, I finally scratched it in 2011. Now the “Monster Tuscan” it is an original RV8 Group B car. Two seater and of course…road legal.
