As you will no doubt have noticed as you read through the site, we are fortunate enough to be able to call upon the very best of tvr Motorsport. Steve Guglielmi was right at the top of this wish list. Besides his undoubted prowess as a Race Driver, Steve's origins are in the "Nuts & Bolts" side of the industry, so he is as happy developing and setting up cars as he is driving them. Add to that a friendly and relaxed Instructing style (also reflected in his driving style) and you have one of the very best driving coaches with almost limitless tvr experience.
And we intend to make the most of his talents!
As a summary of his career, Steve started as a motor vehicle apprentice who started racing almost immediately in 1988. Success in modified sprint class cars (I like him already!) earned him sponsorship from his employers and continued to improve his form in the BMW Car Club Series, with 10 wins and 10 fastest laps. All in a car developed and largely built by Steve himself! Continued success in building and development of BMWs led to a new position at HR Owens in London, who were encouraged to race in the Tuscan Challenge. With proven track success, Steve was a natural choice to spearhead the team who started from the basement in a non-competitive new car, to the car that Steve developed which could deliver a 2 second quicker lap! Steve left when HR Owen could not commit to the high levels of sponsorship required to run a front running team and was immediately offered a drive with the CDL Team. They had an eye on GT racing and needed early success in the Challenge. So, with Steve and his competitive car secured from HR Owen and improved support from the like of Eibach and ITG, Steve went on to to win TWO challenge seasons on the trot in 2001 & 2002. Some of the most competitive years of Tuscan racing, with 30+ on the Grids.
From that hugely successful background, it seemed only reasonable for Steve to set up his own Race Preparation company, and Guglielmi Motorsport Ltd was born. The company has grown developing and racing cars continually. Servicing and Upgrades are also part of the plan enabling Steve to develop customer cars at all levels and has also prepared Britcars for the Mazda UK race wing.
